The food was okay. The mushroom soup was delicious, but everything else was average.
The space on the 23rd floor was airy, with a beautiful night view.
The service was terrible.
I wanted to celebrate my husband's birthday, so I asked about the birthday celebration and was told to write a message and include a small scoop of ice cream. I wanted a "Happy Birthday" message, so I specifically booked a table and mentioned the birthday.
But when we ordered dessert, they didn't bring the birthday gift.
I pretended to go to the restroom to remind the staff.
A while later, a staff member came empty-handed and said there was a special birthday gift at our table, with my husband also present.
I found that quite strange, and I thought, "Isn't that a surprise gift?" But I stayed quiet, just saying "uh-huh" to get it over with so they could bring it and surprise my husband. But they continued to "lecture" me: "Next time, if you want a birthday gift, tell the reception when you book a table."
The service was truly awful.
Sitting here eating, a meal for two costs 3 million VND, so why would I crave a plate of ice cream?
And if I go out and tell them, what surprise would that be?
1. The receptionist didn't inform us that it was an internal matter and we should handle it ourselves. However, we did mention the birthday when we called to make the reservation.
If you think the guest hasn't mentioned it, you should have instructed the receptionist to ask if they had any special memories when they called. Or confirm if they informed us when making the reservation, etc.
Instead of suspecting they hadn't mentioned it and then telling them.
2. If you only mention it when the guest arrives, couldn't you have brought everything out first and then informed them? Why inform them before bringing it out?
People come here to celebrate, to do something special, not to get a free scoop of ice cream from you, right?
I said no, because it no longer has any meaning.
And the attitude of reminding us to inform the receptionist before making the reservation. The staff seemed unhappy and annoyed at having to write "Happy Birthday" on the plate.
Even at the checkout, they still listed a special gift.
I told them straight up that I didn't accept it, so why did they still put it on the bill?
I apologize that it was free and didn't affect the price.
But at this price point, you should show more respect and courtesy to your customers. Seeing the special gift again made me upset.
I also directly told the cashier that they still listed a special gift on the bill even though I refused it and was angry.
But they remained silent and didn't offer an apology.
The staff member who came to handle the situation was probably young and didn't know how to deal with it.
But if that's the case, the restaurant should have someone capable of speaking to customers instead of just anyone.
In the end, I paid for frustration.
The party I wanted to have ultimately lost its meaning.
The cost was too high for the poor service.
